Gordini T15S

I originally purchased this Gordini T15S kit because I was fascinated by its simple yet elegant body lines. At the time, however, I knew very little about Gordini as a manufacturer or its place in motorsport history.

As I began researching the marque, I quickly realized that Gordini was a company with remarkable engineering achievements and a rich racing heritage. The more I learned, the more I felt a sense of responsibility to do justice to the subject, making this project both rewarding and challenging.

One of the greatest difficulties during the build was gathering reference material. Information and photographs of the 1954 T15S were extremely limited, so much of the work was based on the kit instructions and references from later versions of the T15S. As a result, there is one detail that differs from the original car: the identification number panel ahead of the front race number. On the real car it was white, but I chose to use the black decal included with the kit.

Another challenge was recreating the distinctive light blue body color. Unable to find a suitable match, I mixed a custom color specifically for this project in order to capture the character of the original car.

The Gordini story has left a strong impression on me, and there are several other fascinating versions I would like to build in the future.

Perhaps the most special aspect of this project is that the completed model is now in the hands of André Guelfi, who actually drove the real car.
