McLaren MP4/4B
Description
The McLaren MP4/4B was built using Tameo Kits’ McLaren MP4/4 together with a transkit produced by Appendix Club, creating a white metal model with a unique specification.
This project marked my first experience using a transkit for a 1/43 scale model. Unlike a standard kit, the conversion required careful fitting and modification of many components, making it both technically challenging and highly rewarding.
The MP4/4 remains one of the most iconic Formula One cars ever built, and the MP4/4B represents an important step in the evolution of that legendary design. Combining parts from different manufacturers allowed me to recreate a version that would not have been possible with a standard kit alone.
Working with the transkit also gave me a deeper appreciation for the possibilities of 1/43 scale modeling. It was a valuable learning experience, and I expect the MP4/4 family will continue to be a favorite subject in my collection for years to come.
