Description
The Shadow DN8 Early Version was released by This Way Up, which produced both the early-season and late-season specifications of this Formula One car.
I chose to build this model because it was driven by one of my favorite Formula One drivers, Riccardo Patrese. My long-term goal is to build every Formula One car he raced during his career, and this model represents the beginning of that personal project, recreating the car from his Formula One debut.
Although this kit was originally designed as a proportional model, Formula One cars of this era reveal much of their mechanical beauty when built in greater detail. For this reason, I carefully reproduced the engine, ignition wiring, and many other small components to give the model a more realistic appearance.
The Shadow DN8 remains an important milestone in both Riccardo Patrese’s career and my own collection. The late-season version is also waiting to be built, and I look forward to completing the pair someday.
