McLaren MP4/4 early ver.
Description
The McLaren MP4/4 Early Version was built from a Tameo Kits 1/43 scale kit representing the early-season specification of the 1988 car.
This version features the distinctive snorkel air intakes used during the early part of the season. For this build, I focused on the body finish, proportions, and overall appearance of the MP4/4 while reproducing the details specific to this early-season configuration. Tameo’s kit represents the San Marino and Monaco Grand Prix specifications.
Ayrton Senna drove the #12 McLaren MP4/4 during the 1988 season. At the San Marino Grand Prix, one of the specifications represented by this kit, Senna took victory for McLaren-Honda. He went on to win eight races during the season and secure his first Formula One World Championship.
After completing the model, I was contacted by Luca Tameo and asked to provide photographs of the finished work. The model was subsequently featured on the official Tameo Kits Facebook page with my name credited.
Following the publication, I also had the opportunity to exchange messages with Luca Tameo about the construction of the kit, making this project particularly memorable for me.
