Benetton B186 Detroit GP #20 Gerhard Berger

Description

The Benetton B186 Detroit Grand Prix version was completed alongside the Mexico Grand Prix version, making this an enjoyable two-car project.

Although both cars are based on the same Benetton B186, the Detroit GP specification features several subtle differences from the Mexico GP version. Discovering and reproducing these small variations made the build especially enjoyable.

One area that required particular attention was the tire sidewalls. The kit represents the tire markings with decals, but they appeared too clean and somewhat toy-like when left as they were. To create a more natural appearance, I added subtle weathering to the tire sidewalls, helping them blend better with the overall finish of the model.

Compared with heavily modified projects, this build was relatively straightforward, but paying attention to these small differences and finishing details made it a satisfying addition to my Benetton collection.
