Lotus 72D #6 Emerson Fittipaldi

The Lotus 72D was my first full-detail Formula One model built from a Tameo Kits kit.

Unlike a proportional model, the full-detail kit includes the major internal components, including the chassis, suspension, and engine. Although much of this detail is hidden once the body panels are installed, recreating the mechanical structure of the original car was an important part of this project.

Introduced in its original form in 1970, the Lotus 72 brought significant technical developments to Formula One, including side-mounted radiators and a distinctive aerodynamic design. In 1972, Emerson Fittipaldi drove the Lotus 72 to the Drivers’ Championship, while Team Lotus secured the Constructors’ Championship.

Completing this model gave me a greater appreciation for the engineering of the original car and for the amount of detail that can be reproduced in 1/43 scale. Tameo Kits has produced several versions of the Lotus 72, and I hope to build another variant in the future.
